DSPs (CILA)

Pay: Starting at $19.00 Per Hour for Certified Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in CILA

-120 hours of paid DSP training provided at $17.00 per hour until certified.


Need 2nd and 3rd shifts working in a home setting with individuals with developmental disabilities.


Duties include:

  • Providing support to individuals in the community and their homes
  • Assisting with personal activities of daily living, such as personal care, cleaning, cooking, and other household tasks
  • Safely passing medication after completing Medication Administration requirements
  • Accurate daily documentation on Therap for goals, intervention plans, T-Logs, medication administration records, etc.
  • Implement the Person Centered Plan, following implementation strategies for each individual
  • Promote the highest level of independence for all individuals
  • Other DSP duties as assigned 


Must have a High School Diploma or equivalency, pass a criminal background check, and drug test.

Director of Medical Services/RN Trainer Job Posting

Job Purpose:

The Moultrie County Beacon, Inc. is a provider of services to individuals with intellectual disabilities in a residential and day program setting. The Director of Medical Services, RN/Nurse Trainer, will ensure that medical services are provided to individuals receiving Medicaid HCBS, CILA, and CDS waiver programs with full participation of the individuals served.


Candidate Qualifications:

  • State of Illinois Registered Nurse License, required
  • Possess 1 year of clinical registered professional nursing experience within the last 5 years, preferably in developmental disabilities.
  • Have successfully completed the DHS Nurse-Trainer Training Program.
  • Administrative experience, preferred
  • Requires 12 hours of continuing education each fiscal year as mandated by the IL Dept. of Human Services
  • Must become familiar with Administrative Rule 116 through the IL Dept. of Human Services
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance required
  • High level of confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Therap
  • Excellent analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to effectively organize and maintain records
  • Represent the agency in a positive and professional manner.


Job Requirements:

  • See that all medications are administered in accordance with the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Administrative Act [20 ILCS 1705], the Illinois Nursing and Advanced Practice Nursing Act [225 ILCS 65], and Rule 116.
  • Interview and supervise all medical staff under your direct supervision.
  • Conduct job performance reviews of medical staff annually or as needed.
  • Conduct training for the non-licensed staff to administer medication.
  • Carry out any disciplinary actions regarding direct care staff errors.
  • Maintain current files on all direct care staff completing the program and perform a re-evaluation at least annually.
  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting all medication errors to DHS and/or OIG.
  • Assure the proper storage and maintenance of medical supplies and medication in all CILA homes in compliance with Rules 115 and 116.
  • Attend Person-Centered planning meetings for individuals receiving services, as invited.
  • Consult with agency QIDPs regarding medical matters/appointments concerning individuals.
  • Provide supportive services to the family members of the individuals served, as it pertains to medical care.
  • Make referrals to needed services for specialized care, physical therapy, speech/language evaluations, occupational therapy, and mobility specialists.
  • Assist in obtaining medical equipment and/or durable goods for individuals served.
  • Attend major medical appointments such as those regarding increased seizure activity, major psychiatric medication changes, complicated conditions, and individuals who are medically unstable.
  • Provide CPR/First Aid and emergency medical attention to individuals receiving services, as needed.
  • Review records for individuals for compliance with Rule 115 for physicals, visual exams, audiologic, pap smears, mammograms, hearing tests, and other medical exams for each individual.
  • Review physician’s orders, medication records, x-rays, etc., at least annually for each individual served.
  • Maintain emergency medication sheets, medication histories, and physicians’ orders/MARS with accurate and current medications as ordered by physicians.
  • Provide 24-hour nursing on-call for medication questions and nursing coverage, on rotation, with other nurses from the medical department.
  • Act as a designated agency reporter, registered for CIRAS, for timely reporting of incidents.
  • Perform other medical job duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
